37th Annual 4th of July Parade on Monday, July 4 at 10 a.m. on Route 1 in Groton
In celebration of Connecticut's Submarine Century, the parade will feature a Grand Marshal who is a submarine veteran from World War II and the debut of 20 replica submarines that have been decorated for the CT Sub Trail! The parade travels along Route 1 from Poquonnock Plains Park to the Groton Shopping Center at Drozdyk Drive. The reviewing stand is at Chelsea Groton Bank.
10th Annual Fish Tales, Tugs and Sails on July 23 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at New London Waterfront Park
A free, nautically-themed festival celebrating literature and the environment. Special guests and performers will arrive by tugboat. Community readers, live performances, hands-on activities, big boats, sea critter touch tanks and much more will entertain the whole family!
Movie Nights on Wednesday Evenings at Hygienic Art Park in New London
Chelsea Groton Bank is sponsoring Hygienic Art Park's Summer Flicker series on Wednesdays in July (July 6 - Purple Rain, rated R; July 13 - Goonies, rated PG; July 20 - The Sandlot, rated PG; and July 27 - Ferris Bueller's Day Off, rated PG-13). Attendance is free, but donations for the Hygienic are appreciated. Gates open at 8 p.m. for each of the screenings.
