Celebrate Small Business Saturday

November is the month of thanks. And on Saturday, November 24, America will have the opportunity to thank one of the most important contributors to the United States economy — small businesses – by participating in Small Business Saturday.

With the rising cost of college tuition, scholarships are an important factor in the application process deciding where you'll head after high school. Through Chelsea University's E-Learning Platform, you can access a scholarship search engine which includes over 7,000 scholarship awards totaling over $50 million. Polish Chruciki

Traditionally, chruciki (hrooss-CHEE-kee) are associated with the pre-Lenten feasting that starts on Shrove Thursday and continues through Shrove Tuesday (known as Mardi Gras in the States).

The Centennial Celebration of Poland regaining independence was recently held in Downtown Norwich as a part of Global City Norwich, a multi-cultural program supported by the Chelsea Groton Foundation. To better understand the cultural diversity among our employees, Alee Rogan, Financial Services Associate, shared a little about herself and her Polish heritage.

Lights, Camera, Save!, October 1 – December 3
Chelsea Groton Bank is accepting submissions for its Lights, Camera, Save! video contest. The contest, organized by the American Bankers Association Foundation, is a national competition that encourages teens to use video to communicate the value of saving money and inspire their peers to become lifelong savers. To participate, students (ages 13-18) must create a video, 90-seconds or less, on saving and using money wisely and submit a link to the video along with a completed entry form to the Bank by Dec. 3.

Holiday Food Drive, November 1 – December 31, Norwichtown Branch, 50 Town Street, Norwich
The Norwichtown Branch is collecting canned goods this holiday season for the Norwich Area Interfaith Food Pantry.

November 24, Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday is a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. Please join us in supporting your local economy by shopping at a small business.

Family Day, Saturday, December 8, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Center Groton Branch, 1319 Gold Star Highway, Groton
As a participant of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut's 2018 Holiday Shopping Trail, Center Groton will be hosting a Family Day on Saturday, December 8th. Stop by to visit and take pictures with Santa, decorate holiday cookies, and enjoy refreshments with friends and family.
