Chelsea Go Bragh:
12th Annual Mystic Irish Parade this Weekend
Join us for the Mystic Irish Parade on Sunday, March 22 at 1:00 p.m. Since its inception 12 years ago, Chelsea Groton Bank has faithfully supported the Mystic Irish Parade by providing financial resources and volunteers for the annual event.
Chelsea Groton's involvement began when Patti Rodgers Longo, formerly the branch manager of the Downtown Mystic office and more recently a Chelsea mortgage originator, was on the 2003 parade committee and in need of volunteers. She knew she need not look further than her colleagues, and she was right. A group of Chelsea Groton employees volunteered for the first annual parade, and a tradition was born.
In 2004, Karen Stearns, who now also serves as a Chelsea mortgage originator, took over as branch manager of the Mystic office. Karen decided the branch would continue to support the Mystic Irish Parade through recruiting volunteers and for the first time, utilizing the Downtown Mystic branch which was conveniently located across from the reviewing stand, as a warming station for the parade committee, distinguished guests and parade judges.
Two years later, Melinda Burridge, regional sales & service manager, became the Mystic branch manager. She too decided to follow the precedent set forth by previous branch managers and continued the Mystic branch's involvement in the Mystic Irish Parade. In addition to volunteering time and hosting the parade committee in the branch's warming station, 28 CGB employees and Chelsea A. Corn, the beloved mascot, can be seen selling Irish parade T-shirts, and giving away popcorn and balloons.
The Mystic Irish Parade is one of many long-standing traditions in the area that Chelsea Groton Bank is thrilled to be a part of year after year. We hope to see your Irish eyes smiling in Mystic on Sunday.
