This dollar amount surpasses the greatest total awarded in a single giving cycle since the Chelsea Groton Foundation was founded. Inclusive of these donations, the Foundation has provided over $2.8 million in total grants to the community since 1999.

"Chelsea Groton is committed to investing in our community, including the next generation of young adults," said Michael Rauh, President and CEO of Chelsea Groton Bank. "Through the Foundation, we are able to support non-profits who play a critical role in our communities and support a distinguished group of students with bright futures ahead of them. Our team is always honored to contribute to our shared community."

Grants to Area Organizations
The Foundation reviews applications and awards grants to area organizations two times per year. Spring grant awards included: $7,500 to Always Home to prevent homelessness for at-risk families; $634 to the ARC of New London County for sensory reclining chairs for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and IDD; $1,500 to the Norwich Community Backpack Program at Norwich Free Academy to provide backpacks and other school supplies to students in need; and $5,000 to the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center to fund a food pantry, a clothing closet, daily hygiene items, baby items, and pet supplies for residents and homeless people in Stonington, North Stonington, and Westerly. A complete list of this spring's grant recipients is available at chelseagroton.com.

Scholarships to Graduating Seniors
The Foundation also awarded scholarships to graduating seniors who represent 18 area high schools. Each of the individuals who applied for the scholarships excelled in academia, leadership and extracurricular activities during their high school years, and plans to pursue college degrees.

Each year, Chelsea Groton Bank and the Chelsea Groton Foundation support more than 200 local organizations through monetary gifts, grants, sponsorships, scholarships and employee volunteerism.
