  • ¼ lb. ground sweet Italian sausage
  • ¼ lb. ground hot Italian sausage
  • ¼ cup white wine
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 2 tbsp. garlic, minced
  • 1 package of whole mushrooms
  • ½ cup minced mushroom stems
  • ¾ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup Italian style breadcrumbs
  • 1 8oz. package cream cheese
  • 1 egg

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. De-stem mushrooms and set caps aside for later. Mince mushroom stems and set aside.
  2. Mince onion and set aside.
  3. Mix the two sausages together and cook in a frypan on medium heat until done.
  4. Put sausage on a plate with something to absorb the grease, saving most of the grease in the frypan.
  5. Cook the onion and garlic in the frypan on medium low heat until the onion is soft.
  6. Add wine to the pan and continue cooking until wine evaporates.
  7. Add mushroom stems and continue cooking until liquid evaporates. Remove pan from heat.
  8. In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese and egg.
  9. Add the sausage and vegetable mixtures to the bowl and mix together. Stir in parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs. Let mixture sit until cool.
  10. Fill the mushroom caps with the stuffing and put in greased casserole dish.
  11. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
  12. Enjoy!

*If you don't have white wine on hand, you can substitute with chicken broth.
