Time to Spring Clean… Your Finances!

Spring cleaning your financesChelsea Groton Bank is helping members of the community get their finances in order this spring by sponsoring a number of seminars and events throughout Eastern Connecticut. Informational sessions on home buying, building savings, scams and identity theft, as well as opportunities to bring confidential papers for shredding, are free and open to the public.

"The spring is always a great time to talk with people about their saving and spending goals, since it's the time people are thinking about buying or fixing homes, planning vacations, and filing their tax returns," said Pam Days-Luketich, AVP, Community Outreach Officer at Chelsea Groton Bank. "Chelsea Groton Bank is excited to provide a variety of tools and resources to the community throughout the year, including the classes and events during April, which is Financial Literacy Month and Community Banking Month. Our goal is to help people make well-informed financial decisions for themselves and their families."

Chelsea Groton Bank will be hosting the following Community Education events this spring:

Shred-It Days: April 16 from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. at Sprague Public Library and May 14 from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. at Mystic & Noank Library
Members of the community are invited to bring up to three file size boxes of confidential, personal and business documents to locations for shredding, to ensure safe and secure disposal of the material.

Homebuyer Seminar: April 21 at 5 p.m. at Sprague Senior Center
Information will be provided on current options and how to get approved for mortgage financing, recent underwriting requirements, and what products offer down payment assistance or help with costs associated with purchasing a home. Please register with Pam by calling 860-448-4236.

Teach Children to Save Day: April 29
In celebration of Teach Children to Save Day on April 29, Chelsea Groton team members will be reading stories about saving money at story hours throughout the community. We'll also be providing piggy banks and savings tips to children who stop into our branches in April.

Money Smart for Older Adults: May 5 at 10 a.m. at Groton Public Library
We'll discuss common types of elder financial exploitation, scams targeting homeowners and veterans, identity theft, medical identity theft, planning for unexpected life events and how to be financially prepared for disasters. Please register with Pam by calling 860-448-4236.

The Bank will also be hosting a number of credit courses for the students of Mitchell College and Three Rivers Community College prior to the end of the semester.
