Pulled Pork with Apple Cider Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
5-7 lb. Pork Loin (not tenderloin)
1 cup of dry rub
Dry Rub Ingredients– recipe makes 3 cups
- 1 cup smoked paprika
- 1 cup chili powder
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons celery seed
- 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
- 2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
Apple Cider Barbecue Sauce Ingredients
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper (or cayenne pepper for more heat)
Pork Preparation
1. Mix all dry ingredients together, store extra in a seal-tight container for future use.
2. Coat pork loin generously with dry rub and store in refrigerator for a minimum of 8 hours.
3. Place pork on a baking dish or a baking stone, cover tightly with aluminum foil to keep from drying out.
4. Bake in the oven at 275 degrees for 2 – 3 hours (time is determined by size of pork loin). When you're able to pull the pork apart with a fork, it's done!
5. Let sit for 10 minutes. Place pork on a cutting board and pull apart with fork and knife. Serve with rolls and tangy apple cider barbecue sauce.
