Employee Spotlight: Get to Know Regan Nichols

Rock the Docks 2019Summer is Groton Branch Customer Solutions Manager Regan Nichols' favorite time of year. This summer, she organized the Chelsea Groton team to walk in the Groton 4th of July parade!

How long have you worked at Chelsea Groton Bank?

This month will mark my 14th year here at Chelsea Groton.

What do you love about Chelsea Groton Bank?

What I love most about Chelsea Groton are the employees. The team of people I work with are the most dedicated people I know. They are committed to providing great customer service and building a team oriented environment. They sincerely care about helping customers reach their financial goals as well as making a difference in our community. The support I have received from my managers and co-workers throughout my years here have helped me grow both personally and professionally.

What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

Without a doubt, my biggest achievement is my son, Patrick. Being a mom has taken me on such a crazy, wonderful journey. He has always had the greatest sense of humor and kind heart. I have so much respect for him. He is so self-aware and has such a great understanding of what he wants to do with his life. He constantly gives me new reasons to be proud of him. I feel so very blessed to have him in my life. He really is the best part of me.

What projects are you currently working on?

At home, I am forever trying to improve my landscaping. A green thumb does not come naturally to me (unlike my mother who has always had beautiful gardens). I keep trying, though, and add new trees, shrubs, and flowers each year.

What is something about yourself most people wouldn't know?

Most people don't know that I began my Chelsea Groton career as a part time teller here in the Groton office. I worked as a nail tech for several years when my son was little and one day decided to look for a different opportunity. When I went into the bank to cash my check one Friday there was a "Now Hiring" sign posted in the lobby. Fast forward 14 years, and I am now the Customer Solutions Manager for the Groton office. It was a full-circle moment for me when I was offered this position.

How do you keep a healthy work/life balance?

When people ask me that, I like to say I'm a work in progress. It's easy to get caught up in a pattern of work, work, work then repeat. I know myself well enough that I can recognize when I need to have a "reset" day. I love to read or watch a movie and just disconnect. These little things help me to focus better when it's time to get back to work.

Tell us a little bit about your life outside of work.

I love the summer around here. I live in a great town (Westerly) where there are so many places to go and things to do (the beach is the BEST). My family is close by and there's always a lot of laughter when we're together. We are all big fans of music and reading so there are many deep conversations about new tunes and great authors.
