Chelsea Groton Bank OCTOBER 2019

Event Spotlight: Cultivating Great Business

JSmall Business SeriesChelsea Groton Bank specializes in turning dreams into realities for businesses of all types, from comedy clubs to oil companies. The Bank is proud to host a free 13-week small business seminar series for aspiring and established entrepreneurs. "Cultivating Great Business" is open to anyone who is interested in starting their own company or growing their existing small business. Participants will leave the series with an understanding about how to craft a business plan and real-world conversations about how to successfully launch and manage their business. The series kicked off in September, but participants are welcome to attend any remaining seminars with topics that appeal to them.

Professional Curriculum

The instructor-led curriculum was developed jointly by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The course material will be presented by Chelsea Groton bank employees and local area professionals to provide a practical introduction to aspects of starting and managing a business.

Topics to Build a Business Management Toolkit

Classes meet on Tuesdays at the Center Groton Branch. Each class is broken into two distinct hour-long seminars covering different topics:

  • October 15: 6:00 to 7:00 PM Insurance, 7:00 to 8:00 PM Public Speaking
  • October 22: 6:00 to 7:00 PM Tax Planning and Reporting, 7:00 to 8:00 PM Succession Planning
  • October 29: 6:00 to 7:00 PM Organizational Types, 7:00 to 8:00 PM Risk Management
  • November 5: 6:00 to 8:00 PM Pitch Night

Personalized Small Business Banking Solutions

Chelsea Groton understands there is not a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to managing the finances of a business. As a preferred lender for the Small Business Administration, Chelsea Groton has the authority to make the final credit decision for a business loan. This designation allows the Bank to underwrite its own SBA loans, making the process much quicker.

Following the series, participants can receive a quarterly eNewsletter produced by Chelsea Groton, Mutual Business Matters, which keeps business owners informed with commercial lending stories, information on important business banking tools, timely news updates, tips for small businesses, and profiles of the Bank's team members.

Cultivating Great Business will be held on Tuesdays, September 17 to November 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. To register for classes, visit ChelseaGroton.com/ChelseaUniversity or email to Miria Toth at mtoth@chelseagroton.com.
