First-time Homebuyers Invited for One-stop
Opportunity to Prepare for Home Purchase

Home in a DayChelsea Groton Bank will sponsor the Housing Development Fund's (HDF) HOME IN A DAY event on Thursday, March 24, from 5:30 – 8:00 PM at Connecticut College's Crozier Williams Student Center. First-time homebuyers are invited to be guided through an assessment of their credit score, a mortgage pre-qualification by representatives from Chelsea Groton Bank, and a review of HDF's down payment assistance options. By the end of the session, aspiring homeowners will be informed of the steps to take to achieve their goal of homeownership.

"Chelsea Groton Bank realizes the home-buying process can be an overwhelming one, especially when going through it for the first time," said Matt Morrell, VP, Retail Lending Sales Manager. "Home in a Day is intended to provide aspiring homeowners with the answers they've been seeking from a number of resources, who are gathered in one place, for one evening. The event will allow borrowers to leave with a clear direction of next steps, so they can get into a home sooner."

Upon registering, attendees will receive a free copy of their credit report. They will then have the opportunity to meet with loan originators from Chelsea Groton Bank to determine if they can be pre-qualified for a first mortgage. If the borrower has credit issues or concerns, credit counselors will provide advice on steps that can be taken to improve credit. Borrowers can also meet with representatives from HDF to seek pre-approval for HDF's low-interest down-payment and closing assistance programs, such as Live Where You Work (LWYW) and SmartMove.

Realtors and representatives from the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA), town and local housing and development agencies will be present to discuss the home buying process and considerations for aspiring homeowners.

Attendees are encouraged to register for an appointment in advance by visiting http://conta.cc/1JYmvzR to reduce wait-time. Walk-ins are also welcome. Prospective homebuyers must bring a driver's license and copies of their 2014 tax return, 2014 W2 and last four pay stubs to the event.
